The watermelon has long been a summer favorite of mine and as I split one yesterday I was surprised to find that the flesh of it was a bright yellow. My first thought was that some mad scientist at the USDA had managed to grow a hybrid banana watermelon [remember the Grapple?] I was scared to eat it because it was such a pretty color but it tasted like any other watermelon only sweeter. New favorite color.
